It's been a very cold winter and it looks like it will continue being very cold until the end of March. Here are photographs from a walk on February 17, on the hidden trail; this winter, beginning in early November, has not been a time for any really pleasant walks. But we're Canadians, we endure. And we wait for spring.

17 February 2025, the day after the storm
We've had 75 cm. of snow in four days and now it's time to dig ourselves out. It's -14 C but feels like -26 C with the wind chill, a blowing wind sending gusts of snow across backyards, along streets, over parking lots.

The garden under snow
There's nothing you can do in the garden when it's winter and -25 C (or colder), except stay in-doors, read a book, watch Morse on Vermont Public Television, listen to the radio, cook a meal, make your home cosy, keep the heat at 23 C., wait it out. It's difficult to have any enthusiasm to go outside. The good news is that spring is just two months away. We can do it! We're tough! We're Canadians!
