Store windows during the Lovers and Others reading on Blvd St. Laurent October 2011





Slipped out during a break in the reading and took these photographs of store windows along St. Lawrence Main. Just on the edge of Little Italy up near Jean Talon. Montreal, a city still in the 1970s when it isn't in the 1940s or 50s. That's what I love about it...

F.R. Scott Memorial at St. James the Apostle Church in Montreal





On October 12, 2011, F.R. Scott's contribution to Montreal and Canadian poetry was honoured by the unveiling of a memorial plaque dedicated to him at St. James the Apostle Church in Montreal.

At Ben's Restaurant, Montreal, January 1992

We used to go to Ben's with Louis Dudek, after a poetry reading, and often the visiting poet would join us. Louis was always interesting, a gracious host, and,m as one of Canada's leading poets, informative and knowledgeable about poetry.

Guido Nincheri, Montreal artist








In late November, early December 2011, there was an exhibition of the non-sacred art by Florence-born artist Guido Nincheri at Victoria Hall, Westmount, Quebec. My interest in Nincheri is due to his art found at St. Michael's Church in Mile End, Montreal, art commisioned by my great great uncle, Father Luke Callaghan. Callaghan is largely responsible for overseeing the construction of St. Michael's and having Nincheri decorate the interior of the church. All previously unpublished photographs of Artie Gold from 1993. A group of us went out for supper, including CZ, Ken Norris, Artie Gold, and myself, to a Chinese restaurant on St. Laurent. Ken's book, Vehicule Days: an unorthodox history of Montreal's Vehicule Poets (1993)  had just been published. A fun time was had by all...
