Parc St. Henri, St. Antoine Street

This should be Parc Jacques Cartier, with the statue at the center of the park of Jacques Cartier, but there it is... I believe this is the park I wrote about in my first book, The Trees of Unknowing (1978), mentioning large coloured lights (like Chinese lanterns) hanging from the trees.

I lived on the park from 1989 until 1994 when, reluctantly, I joined the Anglo-Quebec exodus. In fact, it was there that I met my wife, who was a neighbour. Back then, the municipal sign read 'Square Saint-Henri', though I've seen it referred to in Edwardian era books as 'Square Jacques-Cartier'. I'm betting that this is the very same park in The Trees of Unknowing. There were often Chinese lanterns in the trees, a tradition that stretches back at least as far as 1893, when the statue was unveiled. Or so I was told.
